Shark Tank India 4: Anupam Mittal & Peyush Bansal Get Into Heated Argument

Shark Tank India 4: Anupam Mittal Criticizes Pitch, Clashes with Peyush Bansal

The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 brought drama and sharp debates among the Sharks. In this episode, Vijay Nihalchandani, a business and finance influencer, pitched his app Make My Payment. He came with his wife, brother, and business partner, seeking ₹30 lakh for a 3% stake in his business. The app aims to send automated payment reminders to debtors.

While the idea seemed simple, it didn’t impress the Sharks.

Doubts About the Concept

Namita Thapar, executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, questioned the app’s practicality. She pointed out, “People who default on payments can easily ignore or block these reminders.”

Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt, also had concerns about Vijay’s focus. He noted that Vijay was juggling multiple ventures, including a hotel booking business and his work as a social media influencer.

Vijay revealed he earns ₹5 lakh a month from Instagram, despite having one million followers. Peyush Bansal, the founder of Lenskart, felt this income was low but still appreciated Vijay’s effort. However, Namita bluntly said, “You should stop this business and focus on something more meaningful.”

Anupam Mittal’s Harsh Critique

Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com, didn’t hold back. He criticized the app’s business model, highlighting that out of 3,500 registered users, only 200 were paying subscribers, generating a meager ₹30,000 monthly revenue. He commented sharply, “You’re earning ₹30,000 a month. Isse achha thela laga lo station ke bahar.” (You’d be better off setting up a street-side cart outside the station.)

Despite their efforts, the Make My Payment team left without securing an investment.

Sharks’ Heated Debate

After the pitchers left, tensions rose between the Sharks. Namita Thapar questioned Peyush Bansal, saying, “Why are you misguiding them?” Anupam joined in, adding, “You’re encouraging an influencer. This is a business investment platform, not India’s Got Talent.”

Peyush defended his appreciation for Vijay’s ability to gain one million followers. Anupam challenged him, saying, “If it’s so amazing, why didn’t you invest? Sach mein itna amazing hai toh paise daal ke dikhao.”

The heated exchange left viewers divided, showcasing once again that Shark Tank India is as much about drama as it is about entrepreneurship.
