Shark Tank India 4: Anupam Mittal Calls Influencer Gaurav Taneja a ‘Terrible Entrepreneur’; Here’s Why His Pitch Didn’t Secure a Deal
In the latest episode of Shark Tank India 4, YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, known for his channel Flying Beast, appeared on the show with his fitness brand, BeastLife. The brand, which sells products like whey protein, creatine monohydrate, and energy-boosting supplements, was looking for ₹1 crore in exchange for a 1% stake. With ₹1 crore in sales within an hour of launching its password-protected website, BeastLife seemed promising. But the pitch didn’t go as planned.
Gaurav, along with his business partner, impressed the Sharks with their strong social media following and sales figures. Judges like Vineeta Singh and Aman Gupta were interested, with Vineeta commenting on Gaurav’s ability to earn a lot of money every day. However, the conversation took a turn when Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com, began questioning Gaurav’s business skills.
Anupam pointed out that Gaurav wasn’t prepared with important numbers like the unique users and monthly active users of his website. Although Gaurav gave approximate numbers, Anupam wasn’t convinced. He said that Gaurav was a “good influencer” but a “terrible entrepreneur so far,” adding, “You can’t outsource entrepreneurship.”
Anupam went on to explain that his past business experiences taught him the importance of focus. He shared how his early failures taught him the value of dedication and how trying to manage too many things at once can hurt a business. He advised Gaurav not to spread himself too thin between his multiple ventures and influencer career.
In the end, the Sharks decided not to invest in BeastLife. They were concerned about Gaurav’s divided attention, his scattered equity, and his long-term commitment to the business. The pitch ended with a “no deal.”
Shark Tank India 4 features a panel of judges, including Anupam Mittal (Founder of Shaadi.com), Aman Gupta (Co-Founder of boAt Lifestyle), Vineeta Singh (Co-Founder of SUGAR Cosmetics), and others.
