Shark Tank India 4: Vineeta Singh & Anupam Mittal Slam Pitchers for ‘Jhol’ Remark

Shark Tank India 4: Vineeta Singh Criticizes Pitchers’ Setup as ‘Jhol’; Anupam Mittal Slams Them for Their Remark

The fourth season of Shark Tank India on Sony LIV continues to deliver drama, innovation, and heated negotiations. In a recent episode, a Jaipur-based husband-wife duo, Aastha and Radesh, caused a stir while pitching their silver jewelry brand, Shyle.

The Pitch

Aastha and Radesh, married for nine years, launched their jewelry business in 2017 with ₹7 lakh as their initial investment. To avoid financial risks, they chose not to seek external funding and focused on steady growth. Over time, Shyle expanded to offer products in 17 categories.

Their energetic pitch impressed the sharks with their extensive product range and competitive pricing. Adding to the charm, the couple shared humorous anecdotes about their marriage, making the pitch lively and engaging.

The Drama

Things took a serious turn when shark Vineeta Singh questioned the way their business was structured. She found out that the company was registered as a sole proprietorship under Aastha’s name, while Radesh worked as a consultant earning ₹1.5 lakh per month. The couple explained that this arrangement was for tax optimization. However, Vineeta criticized it, calling it a “jhol” (mess), and also pointed out their low customer retention rate.

The couple sought ₹70 lakh for 1% equity in their business. Namita Thapar and Ritesh Agarwal teamed up to offer ₹70 lakh for 1.5% equity, along with a 1% royalty until their investment was recovered. Meanwhile, Anupam Mittal made a separate offer of ₹1.4 crore for a 5% stake.

Tensions Rise

The atmosphere became tense when Anupam Mittal overheard Radesh casually saying, “Baad mein dekh lenge” (We’ll see later). Although the couple denied making the comment, it angered Anupam and Vineeta. Anupam called the remark “absolutely unacceptable,” while Vineeta warned them about how such behavior could harm their reputation if they failed to honor royalty agreements.

The Final Deal

After heated negotiations, the couple accepted Namita and Ritesh’s revised offer of ₹70 lakh for 1.5% equity, with the royalty reduced to 0.5%. However, after the deal was finalized, the couple was overheard saying they were never interested in Anupam’s offer.

The episode served as a reminder of the importance of transparency and professionalism during business negotiations.
