Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com and a judge on Shark Tank India, has shared his thoughts on the Union Budget 2025. He believes that a strong economy is built by making the middle class wealthier, not by overburdening them.
In a LinkedIn post, Mittal discussed how middle-class professionals have often been heavily taxed, while the ultra-rich find ways to avoid taxes. He noted that every budget brings hope, but often no relief for the middle class. He emphasized that strong economies are built by making people wealthier, not by making them feel poor.
Mittal also pointed out that nearly 90% of taxpayers in India earn below ₹13 lakh per year. This means that only about 1 crore people out of 140 crore will pay income tax this year, effectively making India income-tax-free.
He concluded by stating, “You don’t build an economy by making people feel gareeb. You build it by making them wealthier.”
Anupam Mittal has been vocal about his views on social media, sharing his reactions to various topics, including remarks from L&T’s Chairman SN Subrahmanyan.
