Shefali Shah Calls Delhi Crime a ‘Defining Moment’ in Her Life: ‘My Art Was Appreciated…’

Shefali Shah, who plays the lead role in the crime drama Delhi Crime, recently shared why she sees the show as a ‘defining moment’ in her career. The show, which won an International Emmy Award, has brought Shefali a lot of praise for her performance as police officer Vartika Chaturvedi.

Shefali Shah has received great recognition for her role in Delhi Crime. In the crime drama, she plays a police officer named Vartika Chaturvedi. The actress, who is getting ready for the third season of the show, recently called it a ‘defining moment’ in her life. She shared that her work had been truly appreciated in the series.

While attending an event for FICCI FLO in Lucknow, Shefali spoke about important moments in her life. According to the Times of India, she said that this ‘defining moment’ came only a few years ago, even though she had been acting for a long time. She mentioned that the moment helped bring more opportunities for her.

Shefali said, “It happened with Delhi Crime, where my art was appreciated, and I had the chance to play a lead role at my age.”

She also mentioned how traditional films often don’t allow space for real and relatable characters. However, with the rise of OTT platforms, actors now have more chances to play meaningful roles.

Shefali added that while the experience of watching films in theaters can’t be replaced, OTT platforms have been a big help for actors like her.

In the first two seasons of Delhi Crime, the show follows the police investigation of high-profile cases in Delhi. Season 3 was announced in February 2025 and will focus on human trafficking. Huma Qureshi will join the cast as the antagonist. The new season is directed by Tanuj Chopra.

The show’s plot is about a police officer, Vartika Chaturvedi, who faces her toughest case yet when she investigates a missing baby’s mother, uncovering a huge human trafficking operation in India.

The third season will star Shefali Shah, Huma Qureshi, Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, Sayani Gupta, Mita Vashisht, and Jaya Bhattacharya. Delhi Crime Season 3 will be released on Netflix in 2025, but the exact release date is not yet announced.
