Zakir Khan recalled watching Shekhar Ravjiani compete on a reality show many years ago. Even though Shekhar gave an amazing performance and got high scores, he missed moving on to the next round by just 5 points. Years later, Shekhar returned to the same show, but this time as a judge. Curious about how this happened, Zakir asked Shekhar to share his thoughts.
Shekhar reflected on the experience, saying, “Losing was very important in life because that loss turned into a victory for me.” He remembered how his then-fiancée, now his wife, Chhaya, was in the audience when the results were announced. Although disappointed, Shekhar reassured Chhaya that he was okay and confidently said, “If I come back to this show, I’ll return as a judge.”
Shekhar explained further, saying, “It wasn’t arrogance or ego; it was simply an effort to make myself stronger. This loss was very important for me. If I had won, I might have become too proud, so it was good that I lost because after that, I worked hard, and you all helped me succeed.”
The episode also featured a touching conversation between Zakir and Shekhar as they talked about their shared love for Ghazals and their earlier work together. Zakir mentioned his days working in radio when Shekhar was involved in a Ghazal show. He fondly remembered writing a promo for the show and praised Shekhar’s exceptional talent in singing Ghazals.
