Actress Shubhangi Atre, best known for playing Angoori Bhabhi in the show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, is going through a tough time in her personal life. Her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey, passed away due to liver problems on April 19, 2025.

In a past exclusive chat with Pinkvilla in 2023, Shubhangi had opened up about how difficult it is for an actor to face the camera while dealing with personal pain. She also shared her feelings after losing her close friend and former co-star Deepesh Bhan.

“Life is very fragile,” says Shubhangi

Talking about Deepesh Bhan’s sudden passing, Shubhangi remembered how he became her neighbor after she advised him to buy a flat in her building. She shared,

“I told him to buy a flat in that building. We used to meet every day—even if I didn’t have shoots, we would go for walks together.”

She recalled how his death deeply affected her and said,

“That day I truly understood how fragile life is.”

Shubhangi reflected on how important it is to support one another, live honestly, and stay positive.

How does she manage work during emotional struggles?

When asked if it’s hard to keep her personal life separate from work, Shubhangi replied honestly.

“It’s not easy, but it’s not impossible either. When I dress up as Angoori Bhabhi, I somehow forget everything else. My mind switches, and I become that character. I think actors slowly learn how to do this with time. In the beginning, it was very hard for me too.”

About her personal life

Shubhangi and Piyush were married for 22 years before finalizing their divorce on February 5, 2025. They have a daughter named Ashi. According to a report by India Forums, the two were not in touch after the separation.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, Shubhangi reportedly resumed shooting on April 20, just a day after Piyush’s passing.

On the work front

Shubhangi is currently seen playing the popular role of Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain.
