Shubhangi Atre’s Ex-Husband Piyush Poorey Passes Away Due to Serious Illness

TV actress Shubhangi Atre’s ex-husband, Piyush Poorey, has sadly passed away. He had been suffering from serious liver problems and died on April 19 due to liver cirrhosis. Piyush was a digital marketing expert.
Shubhangi, best known for her role as Angoori Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, was married to Piyush for 22 years. The couple officially got divorced earlier this year on February 5, 2025.
Shubhangi’s Response
After hearing the sad news, Shubhangi was heartbroken. She spoke briefly to ETimes TV and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
For those who don’t know, Shubhangi and Piyush have a daughter named Ashi. According to reports by India Forums, the two were not in touch after their divorce.
Back to Work After Loss
Even after going through such a personal loss, Shubhangi returned to work the very next day. As per ETimes TV, she resumed shooting for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain on April 20, just one day after Piyush’s passing.

In an earlier interview with Bombay Times, Shubhangi had spoken about her separation. She said,
“It was painful. I was fully invested in the relationship. Over time, Piyush and I had differences we couldn’t solve. But now that the marriage is over, I feel a sense of peace, like a heavy burden has been lifted.”

Shubhangi has worked in many TV shows like Kasturi, Chidiya Ghar, Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, and Havan.
She joined Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain in 2016, after Shilpa Shinde left the show. The sitcom also stars Aasif Sheikh, Rohitashv Gour, and Vidisha Srivastava in key roles.
