Sidharth Sagar Opens Up About His Battle With Addiction: “I Lost 10 Years of My Life”
Comedian and actor Sidharth Sagar, known for his hilarious performances on The Kapil Sharma Show, recently shared his struggles with addiction in an exclusive interview with Hindi Rush. He opened up about his darkest phase, how he fell into addiction, and his journey to recovery.
How It All Started
Sidharth revealed that his addiction lasted for 10 years. “I spent 10 years of my life in severe addiction,” he admitted. He started smoking when he was around 20-21 years old after a heartbreak. “I wasn’t mature enough to handle it, so I picked up a cigarette. Soon, I became obsessed.”
What began with smoking soon led to alcohol and then stronger substances. “I have tried everything—weed, hashish, LSD, acid paper, MDMA, cocaine, morphine. I was addicted to getting high, but I didn’t even know what I was searching for. I just wanted fun.”
Impact on His Life and Family
Sidharth confessed that his addiction deeply affected his family, especially his mother. “I troubled my parents a lot, but my mom tolerated everything.”
He also revealed that doctors diagnosed him with ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and psychosis. “They gave me a bunch of medicines. I used to take 18 pills twice a day.”
His Struggle to Quit
Despite several attempts, quitting was not easy. “I promised my mother, I swore on my work that I wouldn’t touch substances again, but my body would start trembling. I had intense cravings. I felt like I was going mad, and I couldn’t explain it to anyone.”
Now, Sidharth and his mother are helping other addicts recover. He encourages those struggling with addiction to seek help.
Two Years Clean
This February marks two years since Sidharth has been sober. He shared that recovery required breaking deep-rooted mental patterns and building physical, mental, and spiritual awareness. “I gave up many times and went back to drugs, but I had to push through to finally come out of it.”
