EXCLUSIVE: Sonam Bajwa Joins Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh & Ahan Shetty in Border 2
Sonam Bajwa is the latest star to join the exciting cast of Border 2, alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film, directed by Anurag Singh, is now being shot in Pune.
Pinkvilla was the first to report that producers JP Dutta, Bhushan Kumar, and Nidhi Dutta are working together to bring back the spirit of the original Border with a powerful sequel. The movie will continue from where the original Border left off, making it a true follow-up.
We also shared earlier that the makers are bringing back the iconic patriotic song “Sandese Aate Hai”, this time sung by Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh.
Sonam Bajwa to Play a Strong Punjabi Character
Now, we’ve learned exclusively that Sonam Bajwa has joined the film in a key role and will begin shooting by the end of June.
A source close to the production said,
“Sonam will be paired with Diljit Dosanjh in the film. Her character is a strong-willed Punjabi girl with deep emotional layers. Her scenes with Diljit will be one of the film’s highlights, alongside the intense war drama and the India-Pakistan conflict.”
Filming Progress & Upcoming Schedule
Shooting has already started in Pune, with Diljit Dosanjh filming his portions. The rest of the cast will join the shoot over the next couple of weeks.
“Border 2 will be filmed from June to mid-August, involving combination shoots with Sunny, Varun, Diljit, Ahan, and Sonam,” the source added.
“The team is also looking to cast another top female actor, who will star opposite Varun Dhawan. Casting for that role is still in progress.”
Big Release Planned
Border 2 is set to release on Republic Day 2026, and the team promises to deliver India’s biggest war film yet. About 60% of the film has already been shot, and the remaining scenes will be completed by August.
