EXCLUSIVE: Sunny Deol Talks About Working on Ramayana With Ranbir Kapoor & Yash — ‘We Are Aiming for Perfection’
Sunny Deol will be seen as Lord Hanuman in the upcoming film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The movie also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi. As Sunny gets ready for the release of his film Jaat on April 10, he spoke to Pinkvilla in an exclusive interview and shared his thoughts about Ramayana.
Sunny on Working in a Big Project Like Ramayana
Sunny said it’s always a challenge for actors to match the director’s vision, especially in a big, tech-heavy film like Ramayana. “An actor’s job is to perform and get excited about the character. You have to trust the director,” he said.
He also praised how much technology has improved in India. “I remember being amazed by Superman back in the day. Now, our own technology is catching up. People are no longer okay with ‘Chal Jayega’ (that’s good enough). We are all working toward perfection.”
He’s Excited About the Film
Sunny is happy to be part of Ramayana and especially trusts Namit Malhotra, who is producing the film and owns DNEG, a global visual effects company.
“I’m really excited because Namit is handling it. He runs one of the best special effects companies in the world and is the perfect person to make Ramayana. He believes in the story and wants people to truly feel it. I’ve known him for years, and I think this is the right film for him,” Sunny said.
Playing Hanuman is a Huge Responsibility
Sunny also shared how difficult and important it is to play Lord Hanuman on screen. “We are doing our best as actors. But playing Hanuman ji is not easy. You don’t want to make any mistake,” he said.
When asked when he will start shooting for Ramayana, Sunny smiled and said, “I can’t share that.”
