Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the longest-running and most loved comedy shows on Indian TV. It first aired in 2008 and has kept fans entertained for years with its funny stories and lovable characters. One of the memorable storylines from the show was “Tapu ki Shaadi” (Tapu’s wedding), which surprised and amused many viewers.
People were shocked (and amused) when little Tapu, played by Bhavya Gandhi, got married in the show. Even more surprising was how the whole Gokuldham Society happily took part in the wedding celebrations. Tapu’s bride, Tina, became a standout character—despite appearing for a short time, she’s still remembered fondly by fans. But what happened to the actress who played Tina?
Who Played Tapu’s Wife?
Tapu’s wife Tina was played by Nupur Nimesh Bhatt, who is now 25 years old. Today, Nupur is a talented choreographer and very active on social media. Her Instagram is full of dance videos, workshops, and fun content. She dances in many styles—from classical to freestyle—and also promotes different brands through her posts. She currently has over 53.7k followers on Instagram.
Life After Taarak Mehta
Nupur hasn’t appeared in other TV shows after Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, but she’s continued to grow in the dance and content creation space. She stays connected with her fans by posting creative videos and updates on social media.
For those who may not remember, Nupur’s character Tina was introduced in a dream sequence. The plot showed Tapu’s grandfather, Champaklal (played by Amit Bhatt), worrying about the family’s future and wanting Tapu to marry early. While Jethalal (played by Dilip Joshi) was against the idea, he couldn’t stop it and ended up dreaming about Tapu’s wedding.
In his dream, Tina—who was shown as the daughter of a gangster—becomes Tapu’s wife. Tina’s funny interactions with Daya (played by Disha Vakani), her demand for chikoo jam from Jethalal, and the scene where she serves uncooked tea became fan favorites. Her playful jealousy with Sonu (played by Jheel Mehta) and her bond with Daya made the track even more entertaining. Eventually, Jethalal wakes up from the dream after getting “arrested” for child marriage, and Tina’s character exits the story.
Nupur’s Other Roles on the Show
Interestingly, Tina wasn’t Nupur’s only role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. She also once played the daughter of a saree shop owner who tricked the Gokuldham women. When the ladies protested with a “Garba Andolan,” her character’s father admitted his mistake.
Over the years, many actors have appeared briefly in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, yet left a lasting impression. Old episodes still air on TV and are enjoyed by fans just as much today.
The current cast includes Dilip Joshi, Mandar Chandwadkar, Amit Bhatt, Munmun Dutta, and more. Many actors have left the show over time for different reasons. Fans still hope to see the return of Dayaben, played by Disha Vakani. Recently, the show’s makers confirmed that they are actively searching for a new Dayaben.
