Tejasswi Prakash on TV Actors in Films: “Overexposure is a Concern”

Tejasswi Prakash Talks About TV Actors Struggling in Films: “I Have Faced Rejections Too”

Popular television actress Tejasswi Prakash, who is currently seen in Celebrity MasterChef, recently sat down for an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla. During the conversation, she shared her thoughts on a big debate in the industry—do TV actors miss out on film opportunities because they are overexposed?

Tejasswi Prakash on Her Film Journey

Tejasswi, who has worked in Marathi films, shared her experience, saying:
“When I did my two films, the makers were really excited to work with me. No one told me that I was overexposed because both were Marathi films. Even today, when I speak Marathi, Usha Tai, Nikki, and Abhijeet get surprised, and I remind them that I am Maharashtrian.”

Facing Rejections for Being ‘Too Out There’

The actress then opened up about the challenges she has faced in getting film roles. She admitted that some filmmakers have rejected her because she was already too visible on television.

“Yes, I have auditioned for roles where I was rejected for being overexposed. The logic is—‘people have already seen you so much on TV, why would they pay to watch you in a film?’ But I don’t agree with that.”

Changing Times and Opportunities

Tejasswi pointed out that the industry is slowly changing, especially with social media influencers now making a mark in acting.

“If people are watching me so much, that means they want to see me! I think things are shifting now, especially with so many influencers getting acting roles. They prove that audiences are interested in watching them.”

Tough Competition in the Film Industry

She further explained that TV actors getting fewer opportunities isn’t just about overexposure—it’s also about the intense competition in Bollywood.

“There are already so many talented actors in the industry, especially girls my age, whose parents are also actors. It’s a tough competition, and I can’t blame anyone for it. The only thing I can do is continue working hard. The rest, I leave to Ganpati Bappa.”

More from the Interview

In the same interview, Tejasswi also spoke about her relationship with Karan Kundrra, her new show Celebrity MasterChef, and her journey in the entertainment industry.
