When Billionaire Harsh Goenka Pointed Out Losses in Sharks’ Companies and Anupam Mittal Replied with Sass: A Throwback
In 2023, before Shark Tank India Season 3 aired, billionaire and RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka stirred up a debate on social media. He tweeted about the financial losses of companies owned by the judges of Shark Tank India, including Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Namita Thapar, Peyush Bansal, and Vineeta Singh.
While Goenka’s tweet sparked conversations online, it was Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com and one of the show’s sharks, who had the perfect reply.
Harsh Goenka’s Tweet
Goenka posted his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), praising Shark Tank India as a great platform for aspiring entrepreneurs. But he added a cheeky remark, saying, “I enjoy #SharkTankIndia as a program and I think it is a great platform for our budding entrepreneurs. But whenever I think of sharks, I think of the movie Jaws and bleeding!”
He also shared an image showing the reported losses of companies run by the sharks, which sparked debates online.
Anupam Mittal’s Classy Response
Anupam Mittal didn’t stay silent. He respectfully responded to Goenka’s tweet, saying:
“I know you meant it in jest, so with all due respect sir, I think u reacted to what appears to be superficial, biased & incomplete data. Happy to learn from stalwarts, but just to clarify, like u, the sharks don’t bleed red, we bleed blue 🇮🇳 & that’s why we do what we do.”
Fans Join the Debate
The exchange gained a lot of attention, with users chiming in with their opinions. One user wrote, “I don’t believe Shaadi.com is in losses. It’s one of the market leaders in the country. Matchmaking is a huge business in Asia, worth nearly $300 billion!”
Another user wasn’t as impressed, saying, “Anupam, the only way to respond to this is with data, not just words. Your reply doesn’t make much sense.”
Some fans even suggested Harsh Goenka join Shark Tank India. However, while Goenka engaged with other users’ tweets, he chose not to reply further to Mittal’s response.
The Sharks and Their Legacy
Despite the online debate, Anupam Mittal has remained a prominent panelist on Shark Tank India since its first season. The show is now in its fourth season, continuing to inspire and support budding entrepreneurs across the country.
This throwback moment serves as a reminder of the lively conversations that Shark Tank India sparks—not just about business ideas but also about the sharks themselves!
