Upasana Singh Shares Why She Left Kapil Sharma’s Show: ‘Had Nothing Much to Do’
Upasana Singh, famous for her role as Bua Ji in Comedy Nights With Kapil, recently opened up about why she decided to leave Kapil Sharma’s show. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, she revealed there was no conflict with Kapil Sharma but shared her struggles with creative dissatisfaction and professional challenges.
No Issues with Kapil Sharma
Upasana clarified that she has a good friendship with Kapil and left the show on cordial terms. She explained,
“Our show was a hit for over two and a half years. But there came a time when I felt I didn’t have much to do on the show. I spoke to Kapil about it. He understood my feelings, and we stayed on good terms.”
Contractual Challenges and Channel Rivalries
Upasana faced contractual restrictions that complicated her decision. She said,
“I had a contract with the channel, not with Kapil’s team. When Kapil and his team moved to another channel, I couldn’t join them because of my contract. The channel required me to work on a show with Krushna Abhishek.”
Creative Frustration
The actress also expressed her dissatisfaction with how her role was handled.
“I felt creatively stifled. They removed my punchlines, and it became a kind of torture. I wasn’t the only one facing this—Ali Asgar also dealt with similar frustrations.”
Kapil’s Invitation and Upasana’s Films
Kapil later invited Upasana to join his new show, but she declined because of her commitments to films where she worked as a producer. Interestingly, Kapil contributed voice-overs for some of her movies.
Upasana’s Successful Career
Apart from her role in Kapil Sharma’s show, Upasana has appeared in popular shows like Sonpari, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Pari Hoon Main, and Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein. Her career also includes memorable roles in films like Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon.
Upasana’s journey highlights her commitment to meaningful work and her ability to adapt to different challenges in her career.
