Her life was full of personal tragedies. She lost her young daughter in a tragic accident when the child fell from the third floor. Later, she also lost both her sons—one to a heart attack and the other to a brain tumor. Despite so many painful losses, Urmila Baa never gave up. She found the strength to move on and gave life a second chance.
To earn a living, she worked very hard and cooked food in over 200 homes. Slowly, she became independent and even managed to pay for her mother-in-law’s medical treatment with her savings.

During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, Urmila Baa started her own YouTube channel called Gujju Ben na Nasta with the help of her grandson Harsh. On the channel, she shared easy recipes and taught people how to cook traditional Gujarati food.

Her last rites will take place today, April 8, at a cremation center in Marine Lines, Mumbai.
