Val Kilmer Honored With Heartfelt Tribute on SNL After Passing Away at 65

Val Kilmer, the well-known actor from Batman Forever, passed away last week at the age of 65 after battling pneumonia. Following his death, Saturday Night Live (SNL) paid a touching tribute to him with a special card shown on the show.
Val Kilmer’s SNL Moment
Kilmer had hosted SNL back in 2000. During that episode, he did a fun parody of his famous Top Gun character, Iceman. He was joined by the rock band U2, who performed as the musical guests that night.
A Career Full of Iconic Roles
Val Kilmer had previously been diagnosed with throat cancer and sadly lost his voice after surgery. His final appearance on screen was in Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, where he reprised his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.
Kilmer was known for his versatility and had starred in many hit films, including Tombstone, Batman Forever, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Willow, and Thunderheart. He was admired for the variety of roles he played throughout his career.
Tributes from Friends and Family
His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, shared the heartbreaking news of his passing, and since then, many celebrities and fans have paid tribute.
Tom Cruise, who starred alongside Kilmer in Top Gun and its sequel, also shared kind words at CinemaCon:
“I’d like to honor a dear friend of mine, Val Kilmer. I really can’t tell you how much I admire his work, how much I thought of him as a human being, and how honored I was when he joined Top Gun and came back for Top Gun: Maverick.”
Kilmer’s children also released a statement saying they are grieving privately but are grateful for the love and recognition their father is receiving. They are touched by the respect being shown to his legacy.
