Trigger Warning: This article discusses alcohol and drug addiction.
On September 8, well-known TV actor Vikas Sethi, famous for shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga, and Sasural Simar Ka, passed away in his sleep due to a heart attack. His wife, Jhanvi, has now shared a heartbreaking revelation about how Vikas was deeply affected when people reminded him of his past struggles with substance abuse and alcoholism.
Vikas Sethi, who was only 48, left behind his wife and twins. In an interview with ETimes, Jhanvi opened up about their financial difficulties and Vikas’ battle with addiction. She said, “It’s been tough for a long time. Vikas wasn’t getting work, and people would often remind him of how his career had changed. Some would bring up his past issues with alcohol and substance abuse in a cruel way. Yes, he battled those problems years ago, but he overcame them.”
Jhanvi explained how constantly reminding someone of their past can harm their mental health. Vikas was introverted and sensitive, and these hurtful comments affected him deeply. The couple had been going through emotional and financial struggles since 2023. When things seemed to be getting better, Vikas suddenly passed away.
Vikas was set to appear in Oops 2 alongside Deepak Tijori, but sadly, he died just eight days before starting the project.
Jhanvi also shared that they had recently traveled to Nashik for a family event. Vikas, who always enjoyed vacations, seemed different this time. Jhanvi said she didn’t know if Vikas had sensed something was wrong, but his passing still feels unreal to her. She expects him to walk through the door at any moment.
Jhanvi has also been struggling with her health and was recently hospitalized after her blood pressure dropped. However, she is determined to stay strong for their twins. She has told the children that their father has gone to get them toys. She wants people to remember Vikas for his talent, not for the challenges he faced in his past.
Vikas Sethi also appeared in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, where he played the role of Robbie.
