Kaun Banega Crorepati 16: Vikrant Massey Meets Amitabh Bachchan for the First Time in 20-Year Career
In the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 on November 8, Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey appeared as a guest on the show alongside IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. Despite being in the industry for nearly 20 years, this was the first time Vikrant Massey had the chance to meet Amitabh Bachchan in person.
During the episode, Amitabh Bachchan praised Vikrant’s performance in the film 12th Fail. Vikrant thanked him and shared a surprising fact: “I’ve spent 12 years working in films and about 8-9 years in television, so nearly 20 years in the industry, and this is the first time I’m meeting you in person.”
Amitabh responded warmly, saying, “It feels like we’ve met many times before. Watching your performances, it feels like you’re one of us, like family.” For those who may not know, 12th Fail is based on Anurag Pathak’s book and features Vikrant Massey and Palak Lalwani. The movie highlights the inspiring lives of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi.
Amitabh also asked Vikrant why he chose to work on 12th Fail. Vikrant explained that producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra encouraged him to read the book first, saying he’d give him the script if he connected with the story. “Around 3 a.m., I put the book down and started crying. That’s when I knew this story was meant for me,” Vikrant shared.
Vikrant also spoke about how he related to his character, Manoj. He explained a touching scene from the film where Manoj’s father visits him at a flour mill, and in that moment, the son takes on a father’s role and vice versa. “I’m 37 now and started working when I was around 20 or 21. When I was 17, I saw my father struggling a bit, and I decided to take on some responsibilities. That was one of the few heart-to-heart talks we had,” Vikrant shared.
Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 airs Monday to Friday at 9 PM on Sony TV.
