“Indian television ke mard…” Shagun Pandey Reacts Strongly to TV Being Called a Women-Centric Medium
Actor Shagun Pandey, who has been a part of several popular TV shows, recently shared his strong views about a common belief in the TV industry—that television is only for women. In a recent interview, he opened up about this topic and shared how he wants to change this mindset.
Shagun, who will soon be seen in a new show called Saru, spoke to Tellychakkar and said, “We men can also act well. Men on Indian television are doing great work. We can perform with depth and emotion, and we can win people over with our talent. That’s why I’m here—to make this statement.”
He continued, “Just because people say that television is a women-focused medium, doesn’t mean it always has to stay that way. If that happens, actors will move to OTT or films. But I don’t want to run away. I want to bring change from within.”
The Mera Balam Thanedaar actor passionately said, “I will stay here. I will change this space and grow here. Instead of blending in somewhere else, I want to shine here. I’ll do it in front of all of you—and I know you’ll stand with me when we take Indian TV to the next level.”
Shagun also said that change takes time, but someone has to start. He shared that he wants to take on leading roles but also believes in stepping back sometimes to give others a chance, promoting balance and teamwork in the industry.
