Rupali Ganguly, famous for her role in Anupamaa, has taken another major step in her ongoing legal fight with her stepdaughter, Esha Verma. Days after filing a defamation case, her lawyer Sana Raees Khan shared an important update about how Rupali plans to clear her name and seek justice.
Moving to Bombay High Court
According to a statement shared with ETimes TV, Rupali’s lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, revealed that they have filed a defamation case in the Bombay High Court. The case aims to protect Rupali’s reputation from what they call “baseless and malicious” accusations. Sana also emphasized that this legal move sends a strong message: no one can misuse public platforms to defame others without facing legal consequences.
How the Controversy Began
The feud started when Esha Verma’s old post went viral. In the post, Esha accused Rupali of causing her traumatic childhood experiences. Esha alleged that Rupali stole her mother’s jewelry, physically abused her, and played a role in her strained relationship with her father, Ashwin Verma.
Esha even shared videos on Instagram, saying she felt unsafe around Rupali and Ashwin. She also accused her father of being abusive and claimed that Rupali had an affair with him before their marriage.
Rupali Fights Back
On November 11, Rupali filed a defamation case worth ₹50 crore against Esha for damaging her reputation. Following this legal action, Esha deleted her defamatory posts and deactivated her Twitter account.
Rupali’s husband, Ashwin Verma, defended his wife, stating that Rupali had no involvement in his past issues with Esha.
Esha’s Reaction
Esha recently expressed her disappointment through a social media post. She wrote, “Even though I am a young adult, I am still my father’s child. Their response to my statement was disturbing and cruel. I am not just a random person speaking out but someone directly affected as part of their family.”
Family Background
For those unaware, Ashwin Verma, Rupali’s husband, was married twice before marrying her. Esha is his daughter from his second marriage to Sapna. She currently resides in New Jersey, USA.
